Celebrating the freedom of our ancestors, our brother, sisters, siblings, and our own damn selves!

Emancipation proclamation was signed in 1863 yet it took 2 whole years for the last of the enslaved population to be informed of their freedom. On June 19th, 1965, General Granger arrived in Galveston, Texas and issued a general order saying that all enslaved people were now free.

It seems Texas leadership always needs an extra push in the direction of not being racist 😂😂
